The next Steve Jobs
While there may never be another Jobs, there are others out there tinkering in basements and garages who may create new systems and devices. There also Jobs’ former rivals who had made their own mark.
This article debating who is the next big innovator after Jobs.
.
I believe Bezos is the only legit guy on the list (Thiel is a hedge fund guy, cmon; Zuckerberg = awkward guy; Page and Brin = even more awkward; Dorsey = brilliant but lacking in charm).
None of these guys possesses the charm and magnetism of Jobs.
There is one guy, however.
Watching this guy on stage is like watching the personification of Adderall. He, literally, can’t keep still. It’s as though he has an idea waiting to erupt from his brain every minute. While he might not have the same magnetism as Jobs does, he has this charm and allure that saps you in. It is as though he knows he’s on to something really big and wants you in on it with him. Napster, Facebook … now Spotify. Napster revolutionized the music industry. Facebook doesn’t need to be explained. Now Spotify looks as though it’ll be his very own second act with the music industry.
This guy is disruption in the purest sense. If you’ve read his thoughts or interviews, you’ll understand that this guy is - simply put - genius. He has the same predictive sense of Jobs - he understands where a trend is heading … and he’s usually there by the time it arrives.
Sure, he hasn’t really ‘innovated’ anything - but he has been behind two major cultural shifts (Napster, Facebook) in the last decade. And this guy is barely 30. Even more convincing is that he mentions in the above link that he aspires to be like Jobs.
Even if he dies at 56 (RIP Steve), he still has a good 26 years ahead of him and I can’t wait to see what he does with that time.
